Dates and Deadlines

Key Dates in Timeline for 2019 Entry

The below dates are fluid and subject to change, but here’s our best guess at the process and timeline for becoming a Knight-Hennessy Scholar at Stanford University.

May 1, 2018: You can now apply to be a Knight-Hennessy Scholar. Your graduate program's application will not be available until September.

Summer 2018:  The Stanford MBA Program and MD Program applications are open. No other graduate degree program applications will open until September.

Autumn 2018: You'll submit your Knight-Hennessy Scholars application by 1:00pm Pacific Time on September 12, 2018. All Stanford graduate program applications will be available/open by this point, as well.

Autumn 2018: You'll apply to the Stanford graduate program that you wish to pursue. Graduate application deadlines vary; check with your home graduate program for more information.

  • The MBA Program application is due by the first-round deadline in mid-September, 2018.
  • The MD Program is due a couple of weeks before the late-September 2018 deadline, given the AMCAS timeline.
  • For all other graduate degree programs, you will need to submit your application with all application materials complete no later than November 1, 2018.

Winter 2018: In mid-December, we’ll select around 150 finalists and invite you to visit Stanford at our expense for Immersion Weekend, to take place January 11-12, 2019. This will give you the opportunity to learn more about your home department and about Stanford more generally, and also will allow us to get to know you better.

Winter 2019: We’ll select and notify the second cohort of Knight-Hennessy Scholars in mid-February 2019. Departments also will contemporaneously notify applicants selected as Knight-Hennessy Scholars for admission to the graduate program.

Summer 2019: We’ll bring the second cohort together for an orientation experience.

Autumn 2019: You’ll enroll at Stanford in your home graduate program.
