The first cohort enrolled at Stanford in September 2018. The 2026 cohort is the ninth cohort.

The first cohort of 51 scholars enrolled at Stanford in September 2018. The addition of the 2026 cohort of 87 scholars will bring the total number to 682 Knight-Hennessy scholars since the program began. 

Please see the 2026 cohort at a glance page for a summary about the 2026 cohort. KHS received 9,223 applications to join the 2026 cohort, an increase of 7.62% from the 8,570 applications submitted for the 2025 cohort. Of the total applications submitted, 5,144 were eligible applications for the 2026 cohort. Applications are considered eligible when prospective scholars submit applications to both KHS as well as their Stanford degree program.
