Health Charlas with Stanford Staff
Spanish language health chats ("charlas") to empower and educate Stanford housekeeping staff.
Our Stanford community is not just made up of the students and faculty -- our lives and education is made possible by the support staff who make Stanford a welcoming place. Housekeeping staff approached students and faculty in the School of Medicine and Languages & Culture Department, wanting more education on health and rights topics. This is the impetus of this project, in which students and faculty develop Spanish language health "charlas" on topics of interest to support staff, as well as a course (Advanced Spanish with Service Learning) to train facilitators for the charlas. As most housekeeping staff speak Spanish as a first language, charlas are conducted in Spanish.
Knight-Hennessy scholars represent a vast array of cultures, perspectives, and experiences. While we as an organization are committed to elevating their voices, the views expressed are those of the scholars, and not necessarily those of KHS.
