The human behind the science

Discovering and telling personal stories of renowned scientists.

A group of individuals stands on stage in front of a blank presentation screen, actively engaging in a discussion.

At Stanford, we are surrounded by brilliant pioneers in various scientific fields. However, behind every groundbreaking discovery, there is a human story. Aren’t you curious to know how Chemistry Nobel laureate Frances Arnold once worked as a taxi driver? Or how biophysicist Rob Phillips was convinced to go to college by a stranger on a train while wandering the world?

These stories are powerful. In this project, we will research these stories and produce content to reach a wider audience, either through publishing or by organizing a live event.

Knight-Hennessy scholars represent a vast array of cultures, perspectives, and experiences. While we as an organization are committed to elevating their voices, the views expressed are those of the scholars, and not necessarily those of KHS.
