Aaron Abai

Aaron Abai, from Littleton, Colorado, is pursuing an MD and a PhD at Stanford School of Medicine. He graduated from Harvard University with a degree in molecular and cellular biology and from the University of Cambridge with an MPhil in the history and philosophy of science and medicine. As the child of Ethiopian immigrants, Aaron is passionate about translating basic science research toward global health equity. He performed research in the Ndung'u Lab at the Africa Health Research Institute in South Africa and in the Kwon Lab at the Ragon Institute in Boston. While at Harvard, he served as president of the Society of Black Scientists and Engineers and worked with Partners in Health to advocate for global COVID-19 vaccine equity. Aaron is a Harvard-Cambridge Scholar and a Presidential Public Service Fellow, and was awarded the Harvard Foundation Insignia Award for his work advocating for cultural and affinity groups.
