Abd Al-Rahman Traboulsi

Abd Al-Rahman Traboulsi, from Cincinnati, Ohio, is pursuing an MD at Stanford School of Medicine. He was an Eminence Fellow at Ohio State University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering and then studied for a year at the Qalam Islamic Seminary program. A first-generation Syrian American, he aspires to influence humanitarian policy at the United Nations to help displaced populations affected by conflict and disaster. Abd Al-Rahman spent several summers in field hospitals and mental health clinics in Northern Syria and in Turkey, and gave a TEDx talk at OSU about his experiences. He was the co-founder and executive director of Refuge, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering adolescent refugees to pursue higher education, which was featured in the 2018 UN Youth Solutions Report. Abd Al-Rahman really enjoys teaching, and has worked as a standardized test prep tutor, and as an organic chemistry and neuroanatomy teaching assistant. At Stanford, he served as the sermon coordinator for the Muslim Student Union and as the Stanford Muslim Medical Association co-president. Abd Al-Rahman loves basketball, hiking, and wants to have a big family.
