Abdumalik Abdukayumov, from Bukhara, Uzbekistan, is pursuing a PhD in operations, information and technology at Stanford Graduate School of Business. He earned a master’s degree in economics and computation from Duke University and a bachelor’s degree in economics and finance from Tashkent State University of Economics. Abdumalik aspires to pioneer robust mathematical frameworks that resolve complex global challenges under uncertainty. He also aims to establish advanced research centers in Central Asia to integrate regional talent into the broader scientific community. His research focuses on stochastic modeling, data-driven decision-making, and optimization in resource-constrained environments. Grounded in a lifelong passion for probability theory, he previously conducted mathematical research at the V.I. Romanovsky Institute of Mathematics and competed in undergraduate math olympiads. Abdumalik was awarded the Duke Dean’s Research Award, the Duke Economics Scholar Award, and Uzbekistan’s Presidential and Islam Karimov State Scholarships. He is an International Mathematical Olympiad Silver Medalist.
