Alain Pineda

Alain Pineda, from Mexico City, Mexico, is pursuing a PhD in economics at Stanford School of Humanities and Sciences. He earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM), where he also received his master’s degree. At ITAM, he served as student council president. He worked as an economist in the Real Sector Research Division of Mexico's central bank. He was awarded the Baillères Scholarship, and for his undergraduate thesis studying the determinants of informal job duration, he received the Citibanamex Economics Prize in 2017. Alain is interested in studying labor markets in developing countries, with a focus on informality.
