Alexandra Koch, from Seattle, Washington, is pursuing a JD at Stanford Law School. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Stanford University with a bachelor’s degree in international relations. Alexandra aims to identify and seize moments of improbable cooperation between adversarial parties to avoid, curtail, and end conflicts in an effort to make the world safer and more secure. At the State Department, Alexandra led U.S. conventional arms control policy with NATO and broader Europe to reduce the risk of miscalculation and escalation, and she explored military applications of emerging technologies, including AI-enabled and autonomous systems. Alexandra previously worked at the International Criminal Court and co-chaired the policy planning practice at Public International Law & Policy Group, a global pro bono law firm that provides assistance on peace negotiations and post-conflict constitution drafting. Alexandra received the Slusser World Peace Prize for her undergraduate thesis and has published in The Diplomat, Lawfare, JustSecurity, and OpinioJuris.
