Andrea Daniela Jimenez Flores, from West Valley City, Utah, is pursuing a JD at Stanford Law School. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Utah with bachelor’s degrees in communication, political science, and sociology. Andrea aspires to become a civil rights attorney to preserve the rights of marginalized people and use her experience as a DACA recipient to fight for a humane immigration system. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Andrea managed a team of promotoras (community health workers) at Comunidades Unidas and helped thousands of Latinx and immigrant individuals navigate the disparate impacts of the pandemic. As a Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute Policy Fellow for U.S. Rep. Raúl Grijalva, Andrea managed eight issue areas, including immigration, housing, and social insurance. Andrea advanced immigrants’ rights and language access across Utah as the ACLU of Utah’s immigrants’ rights policy analyst. Andrea received the College of Humanities’ Outstanding Senior Award for public service and academic excellence.
