Anela Arifi

Anela Arifi, from Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina is pursuing a PhD in environment and resources at Stanford School of Earth, Energy, and Environmental Science. At Dartmouth College, she earned a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies and international studies. Anela aspires to contribute to alleviating energy poverty in different geographic regions by addressing the nexus between engineering, socio-economic, policy, and environmental components of energy systems. While in Bosnia, she developed renewable energy systems for rural communities using waste chicken feathers and municipal solid waste. She was also the first Junior Energy Analyst for the Western Balkans at the World Bank. To raise awareness about energy poverty, Anela gave a TEDWomen Talk, addressed the UN at the UNICEF Activate Talks, and was featured in an SDG7 educational video.
