AnnaMaria Dear

AnnaMaria Dear, from Los Angeles, California, is pursuing a master’s degree in aeronautics and astronautics at Stanford School of Engineering. She graduated from the United States Military Academy with a bachelor’s degree in space science and a minor in Russian. AnnaMaria aspires to reach a broad audience through astronomy outreach and provide students from under-resourced communities access to the same opportunities in astronomy that expanded her world beyond Earth. A delegate of the Stanford US-Russia Forum, she is focused on fostering the collaborative relationship between the United States and Russia in space exploration amid heightened political tensions, applying her experiences as an intern at NASA Johnson Space Center and as an exchange student studying Russian in Latvia.
