Avanika Narayan

Avanika Narayan, from Palo Alto, California, is pursuing a PhD in computer science (CS) at Stanford School of Engineering. She graduated from Stanford with a bachelor’s degree in CS. She was a growth stage investment intern at Sequoia Capital and a software engineering intern at Palo Alto Networks. Avanika aspires to use her research to understand and design AI technologies that can transform CS education and bridge the digital divide across languages and cultures. Avanika co-founded Everyone Deserves A Byte (EDAB), a nonprofit organization which aims to spread CS curricula to low-income, first-generation students both domestically and around the world. EDAB’s initiatives have supported more than 10,000 students. Avanika has served on the Palo Alto Unified School District PK-12 CS Curriculum Design Advisory Committee. She was a member of the Stanford varsity women’s tennis team. Avanika was selected for the Google CS Research Mentorship Program and as a Straubel Foundation scholar.
