Hong Kong, Hong Kong S.A.R.

Eliot Chen, from Hong Kong, is pursuing a master’s degree in international policy at Stanford School of Humanities and Sciences. He graduated from Princeton University with a bachelor’s degree in politics and a minor in East Asian studies. Eliot aspires to get into the nuts and bolts of how frontier technologies stand to change our lives, and the geopolitical implications of who controls their production. For five years, he was a reporter for The Wire China, an American news magazine covering Chinese business and technology, during which time he wrote about the U.S.–China rivalry across a range of fields from AI to biotech to fusion energy. At Princeton, he won four awards for his thesis on media manipulation and how Chinese consumers determine what to trust in the news.
