Daishi Miguel-Tanaka, from Los Angeles, California, is pursuing a JD at Stanford Law School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in government and migration studies from Harvard University. As a Japanese-Filipino DACA recipient, Daishi aspires to shape and enact a new vision of U.S. immigration policies. For five years, he worked as an immigrant rights advocate in Washington, D.C., most recently as director of immigration policy & research at FWD.us, a social welfare organization, where he organized mayors to advocate for work permit extensions for more than 600,000 migrants. Previously, he led the largest immigrant rights network in the country and co-chaired a national AAPI immigration policy advisory board. Daishi’s advocacy was recognized at the 2024 Democratic National Convention and has been featured in over 20 media outlets.
