Dana Sweeney

Dana Sweeney, from Kingsland, Georgia, is pursuing a JD at Stanford Law School. He graduated from Camden County High School before attending the University of Alabama and earning a bachelor’s degree in English in 2017. Dana has spent the past six years working as the statewide community organizer for the Alabama Appleseed Center for Law and Justice, and he plans to use his legal education to support grassroots movements fighting for justice in the Deep South. He has collaborated with communities across Alabama in successful campaigns to prevent prison construction, to expand voting rights for college students, and to pass criminal legal reforms at the statehouse. Dana is a Truman scholar and an alumnus of the Public Policy and International Affairs Fellowship, and he served as an inaugural Puffin Democracy fellow for the Andrew Goodman Foundation.
