Eugene Awori, from Bungoma, Kenya, is pursuing a master’s degree in business administration at Stanford Graduate School of Business. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Nairobi with a bachelor’s degree in actuarial science and is a member of the UK’s Institute & Faculty of Actuaries. He aspires to fight climate change by mobilizing investment in sustainable energy and transport infrastructure projects, especially in emerging markets. As a financial analyst at the International Finance Corporation in London, he helped the World Bank’s private sector arm to raise affordable capital for infrastructure projects, financial institutions and corporates in sub-Saharan Africa, Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Previously, he worked as an investment associate at Actis Capital in London and at Centum Investment in Nairobi, where he supported the development or renewable energy projects across Africa.
