Gabriella Smith

Gabriella Smith, from Newton, Massachusetts, is pursuing an MD at Stanford School of Medicine. She graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Washington University in St. Louis with a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and molecular biology. Gabriella aspires to fuse clinical medicine, research, and advocacy to support the health and well-being of children and to promote health equity. At WashU, she served as speaker of the Student Union Senate and as an undergraduate representative to the board of trustees. In the Senate, Gabriella co-developed the Student Union Mental Health Fund, which provides financial resources to help students cover costs associated with mental health care. She has conducted research at Washington University School of Medicine, Boston Children’s Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Lurie Children’s Hospital. Gabriella received the Harriet K. Switzer Leadership Award and the Shepley Outstanding Senior Award at WashU.
