
Garam Kim

Garam Kim, originally from Seoul, South Korea, and later Laramie, Wyoming, is pursuing a PhD in neuroscience at Stanford School of Medicine. She graduated from Northwestern University with distinction for bachelor’s degrees in biological sciences and violin performance, and a master’s degree in biostatistics. Prior to her career as a researcher, Garam worked as a concert violinist, performing as a soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician for audiences across the globe. Her published research, for which she has received numerous awards and grants, has primarily focused on defining clinico-pathologic relationships in normal aging, SuperAging, and age-related neurodegenerative disorders, such as frontotemporal dementias and Alzheimer's disease. As an aspiring educator and advocate, Garam has also served as a mentor and board member of Project Exploration, a Chicago-based nonprofit organization that aims to impact under-served communities and youth by delivering STEM education programs, and to influence a city-wide conversation that aims to combat STEM deserts.
