Gil Joseph

Gil Joseph, from Port-au-Prince, Haiti, is pursuing a master’s degree in international policy at Stanford School of Humanities and Sciences. He earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology with a minor in Latin American studies from Princeton University. A Davis United World College Scholar, Gil aspires to work at the intersection of policy research and legal advocacy to advance equitable global migration governance. He is particularly interested in designing policies that ensure safe and dignified mobility for migrants while balancing economic priorities and national sovereignty. In the long term, he hopes to contribute to the restructuring of Haiti’s foreign policy. Gil has conducted field research in Brazil, where he examined the integration and mobility prospects of migrants in São Paulo. He is the co-founder and vice president of the Hector Foundation, a nonprofit that has raised more than $100,000 to expand educational opportunities for young people in Haiti.
