Grace Marchant, from St. Pete Beach, Florida, is pursuing a master’s degree in civil and environmental engineering at Stanford School of Engineering and Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability. She earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the United States Air Force Academy. Grace aspires to develop innovative, sustainable infrastructure to increase flood resilience in communities around the world impacted by weather, economic limitations, and aging infrastructure. For the last five years, she has served as a civil engineer officer in the U.S. Air Force, developing mission essential infrastructure for multiple overseas installations. During her service, Grace worked closely with the Government of Japan Facilities Improvement Program to manage a $523 million portfolio of diverse military construction across family housing, airfield infrastructure, and energy savings solutions. Most recently, she served as an engineer within the contingency response mission set, evaluating contingency airfields in Europe and increasing interoperability with NATO partners.
