Jaden Clark, from Claremont, California, is pursuing a PhD in astronautics at Stanford School of Engineering with a focus on AI and robotics. He earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Stanford University. Jaden researches algorithms enabling robots to explore and adapt in diverse settings. He is also passionate about using AI and robotics to study and conserve the environment. He has built robotic systems to track endangered sharks in Costa Rica, designed new algorithms for drones to survey penguins in Antarctica, developed robots to assist immunocompromised patients at Stanford Children’s Hospital, and sailed 3,000 nautical miles through the Pacific Ocean to study movement ecology of large marine animals. Jaden’s research has been published in top venues for both robotics and biology, including the International Conference on Robotics and Automation, Robotics: Science and Systems, and Integrative and Comparative Biology. Jaden is also passionate about wildlife photography; his entry in the 2021 WikiScience Competition won in the nature category.
