Jing-Jing Shen

Jing-Jing Shen, from Cleveland, Ohio, is pursuing a PhD in chemistry at Stanford School of Humanities and Sciences. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa with highest honors from Harvard, with dual majors in chemistry and government and a minor in global health. Jing-Jing develops new materials for renewable energy. She investigated lithium-ion batteries at the National Renewable Energy Lab and fuel cells in Denmark as a Fulbright scholar, and she is the first author of several peer-reviewed papers. Beyond STEM, Jing-Jing is active in policy. As chair of the Harvard Public Opinion Project, she led two nationwide surveys of young Americans and was invited to brief President Biden at the White House on the findings. She has spoken at eight institutional and national conferences, including Harvard’s JFK Jr. Forum and the Department of Energy. Jing-Jing aspires to be a chemistry professor who fuses research, teaching, and policy to champion clean energy and sustainable development worldwide.
