John Alimi, from Ibadan, Nigeria, is pursuing a PhD in management science and engineering at Stanford School of Engineering. He graduated from the University of Bradford with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, and holds a master of philosophy in industrial systems, manufacture, and management from the University of Cambridge. John aspires to reimagine and shape economic systems by leveraging technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship to empower individuals and transform communities. He has led the development of impactful technologies across diverse industries, ranging from affordable healthcare innovations to smart water systems for tackling global water scarcity. He co-founded Loopify to equip underserved African small businesses with digital tools. He also launched the U.K. government-backed Young Innovators program to empower London’s at-risk youth with digital and entrepreneurial skills. John is a recipient of the Isaac Newton Trust Scholarship, Cambridge’s Frederick Alfred Warren Prize for academic excellence, and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers’ Frederic Barnes Waldron Award.
