Josefina Miró Quesada Gayoso, from Lima, Peru, is pursuing a JSM in international legal studies at Stanford Law School. She graduated summa cum laude in law from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Peru (PUCP) and earned an master of philosophy in criminology from the University of Cambridge. Josefina aspires to use the power of law to expand choices at the end of life and is building a platform to make this a reality in Latin America. As a human rights attorney, Josefina pioneered the right to die with dignity in Peru, securing the first case of medical assistance in dying and another on the right to refuse life-sustaining treatment. She has taught law at PUCP, worked with several organizations, including the United Nations, and authored two books. Josefina is a Global Fellow in End-of-Life Care and a legal fellow at Compassion & Choices. She is also a feminist activist, musician, and TEDx speaker.
