Josefina Miró Quesada Gayoso

Josefina Miró Quesada Gayoso, from Lima, Peru, is pursuing a JSM in international legal studies at Stanford Law School. She graduated summa cum laude in law from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Peru (PUCP) and earned a master of philosophy in criminology from the University of Cambridge. Josefina aspires to use the power of law to expand choices at the end of life and is building a platform to make this a reality in Latin America. As a human rights attorney, Josefina pioneered the right to die with dignity in Peru, securing the first case of medical assistance in dying and another on the right to refuse life-sustaining treatment. She has taught law at PUCP, worked with several organizations, including the United Nations, and authored two books. Josefina is a Global Fellow in End-of-Life Care and a legal fellow at Compassion & Choices. She is also a feminist activist, musician, and TEDx speaker.
