Jun Hou Shin, from Seoul, South Korea, is pursuing a JD at Stanford Law School. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor’s degree in political science, with a concentration in international relations. Jun Hou aspires to leverage his multicultural background to resolve international disputes and spearhead inclusive negotiations. As an active-duty Korean military officer, he recently served in the Office of the President of South Korea, where he represented the Korean National Security Office in facilitating bilateral meetings with the White House and led efforts to strengthen multinational cybersecurity partnerships. He also negotiated the Korea-U.S. Special Measures Agreement at the Ministry of National Defense. Before his service, he provided legal assistance and translated for asylum-seekers at the Korea Legal Aid Corporation. In recognition of his contributions to negotiating Korea-U.S. military agreements, he received the Korean Defense Minister’s Commendation Medal in 2024.
