Kara Schechtman, from Scarsdale, New York, is pursuing a master’s degree in symbolic systems at Stanford School of Humanities and Sciences. She received a BA in English and computer science from Columbia University, graduating Phi Beta Kappa and magna cum laude, and an MPhil with distinction in Philosophy from Trinity College Dublin. She is currently data quality lead for The COVID Tracking Project at The Atlantic, a pop-up collective that compiled COVID-19 data from US states, territories, and the District of Columbia. Kara hopes to pursue research at the intersection of data ethics and philosophy of mind. She is a 2019 George J. Mitchell Scholar.
