Karthik Ravi, from West Bloomfield, Michigan, is pursuing an MD at Stanford School of Medicine. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Michigan in three years with a bachelor’s degree in biology and business and earned an MPhil in medical sciences from the University of Cambridge in the U.K. Karthik aspires to contribute to a world where brain cancer is detected from routine blood, spinal fluid, or urine tests, leveraging the latest liquid biopsy technologies. At Michigan, he helped develop CNS-TAP, a drug-selection algorithm for pediatric neuro-oncologists, which has been adopted by national consortiums and is now under the management of UPenn’s Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Karthik also worked as a consultant at McKinsey & Company. His high school, undergraduate, and master’s degree work in the field of neuro-oncology, neurosurgery, and liquid biopsy has led to over a dozen publications. Karthik is a recipient of the Churchill scholarship and Goldwater scholarship.
