Katherine Hu

Katherine Hu, from Davis, California, is pursuing an MD at Stanford School of Medicine. She graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering. Katherine aspires to combine medicine, engineering, and entrepreneurship to advance medical innovation for marginalized communities, especially children. At JHU, she led medical device ventures Pediafeed and Maternys to develop a pediatric feeding tube and a low-cost postpartum hemorrhage control device, resulting in several publications, patents, and tens of thousands of dollars in funding. Additionally, Katherine built analytical neurology tools at the Institute for Computational Medicine and developed commercial innovation strategies at Health Advances. Passionate about connecting with diverse communities and promoting STEM and cultural education, Katherine also founded a youth medical hackathon and foreign language program in Baltimore and taught at an elementary school in Spain. She is a member of Tau Beta Pi, a Bloomberg Scholar, and a Fulbright Scholar.
