Kazumi Hoshino-Macdonald

Kazumi Hoshino-Macdonald, from Vancouver, British Columbia, is pursuing a JD from Stanford Law School as well as a PhD in political science. They graduated from McGill University after attending community college on the south side of Vancouver, earning a bachelor’s degree in international development studies and minors in international relations and Islamic studies. After McGill, Kazumi read for an MPhil in international relations as a Rhodes scholar at the University of Oxford. During a break from the academy, Kazumi worked in geopolitical risk advisory positions with an open source intelligence focus. While at Stanford Law School, Kazumi worked and lived in Rwanda advising the ministers of justice and agriculture on the creation of special economic zones for export-led development growth. Kazumi has been awarded the Payton Fellowship, the Salzburg-Cutler Fellowship, and the Schmidt Futures International Strategy Fellowship for work at the intersection of law and international affairs. Kazumi was also recognized as a winner of Harvard’s Belfer Center “Meeting the China Challenge.”
