Kelly McFarlane, from Mill Valley, California, is pursuing a master’s degree in business administration at Stanford Graduate School of Business. She graduated from the University of North Carolina (UNC) with a bachelor’s degree in public health and a minor in chemistry, and is pursuing an MD at Harvard Medical School. Kelly aspires to become a physician who will champion healthcare innovation to improve quality, access, and cost. She has worked on clinical and quality improvement research in Orthopedics at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Prior to medical school, she worked as a healthcare analyst at Huron Consulting Group in San Francisco and a wellness intern at Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina. She played professional soccer as a midfielder with the Houston Dash of the National Women’s Soccer League, and as a member of the UNC women’s soccer team was a two-time All-ACC Academic Team selection and an NCAA national champion. She was named to UNC’s Order of the Golden Fleece, and received the ACC Weaver-James-Corrigan Award.
