Lauren Croxton, from Seattle, Washington, is pursuing a JD at Stanford Law School. She graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science in economics, biology, and environmental studies. Lauren aspires to advance ambitious climate legislation by bridging the gap between science, policy, and community action. She served in the Biden-Harris administration at the White House Council on Environmental Quality. As policy advisor and associate director for sustainability, she led several initiatives to transition the U.S. government’s $700 billion in annual purchasing power to net-zero emissions, including launching the U.S. government’s scope 3 reduction strategy and first-ever plan to phase out single-use plastics. Her prior experience includes work at the U.S. House of Representatives and in the policy research and nonprofit sectors. Lauren co-authored a National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences Paper of the Year, and was awarded the Osterweil Memorial Prize in Economics her senior year at Michigan.
