Leah Matchett

Leah Matchett, originally from Grand Haven, Michigan, is pursuing a PhD in political science at Stanford School of Humanities and Sciences. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a bachelor’s degree in global studies and geology, and studied at the University of Oxford for a master’s degree in international relations. She aspires to work for the US government and the International Atomic Energy Agency as an expert on nuclear security. She spent summers as an associate researcher in nuclear security on the Managing the Atom project at Harvard, as a graduate fellow studying nuclear policy at KAIST in Daejeon, South Korea, and as an environmental science technology and health intern at the US Department of State in Guangzhou, China. She is a Marshall Scholar, was named the Nuclear Non-proliferation Education and Research Center’s Most Exemplary Fellow, and won the Bronze Tablet, the highest academic honor at the University of Illinois.
