Leila Doty

Leila Doty, from Roseville, California, is pursuing a JD at Stanford Law School. She earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in public policy and a minor in computer science from Stanford University. Leila aspires to architect a technological future where digital civil liberties such as privacy and free expression are not only protected but strengthened. During her four years working in local government, she crafted a landmark municipal AI policy and a first-of-its-kind AI governance framework for local agencies that leverages public procurement processes to regulate AI. In her time with the city of San José and the GovAI Coalition, Leila guided hundreds of local, state, and federal agencies across the United States in ensuring that the government prioritizes transparency, public accountability, and justice in its approach to AI.
