Matthew Colford, from Palo Alto, California, is pursuing a JD at Stanford Law School, and a master’s degree in business administration at Stanford Graduate School of Business. He graduated from Stanford with a bachelor’s degree in political science. He aspires to serve in public office at a state or local level, working on regional issues such as economic development and poverty eradication. Prior to his position as a partner in policy and regulatory affairs at Andreessen Horowitz, he served as special assistant to US Ambassador to the UN Samantha Power, and as a research assistant to former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. He has also interned at the White House in the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs, the US Embassy in Rabat, Morocco, and Google's Strategy & Finance team. He recently co-authored a chapter in General Jim Mattis’ book Warriors & Citizens: American Views of Our Military, published by Hoover Institution Press. At Stanford, he won the Stanford Award of Excellence and a John Gardner Fellowship, and was awarded a grant to conduct research in Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger on civil war and insurgencies. He and his wife, Megan, are the proud parents of son James Francis.
