Myrial Holbrook

Myrial Holbrook, from Columbus, Ohio, is pursuing a PhD in english at Stanford School of Humanities and Sciences. She graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Princeton University with a bachelor’s degree in comparative literature. As a Marshall Scholar, she studied at the University of Cambridge for an MPhil in education and at the University of East Anglia for an MA in creative writing. She aspires to become a professor of literature, a creative writer, and a literacy activist, working for the advancement of the public humanities and inclusive literacy. Myrial was appointed to the Executive Board of Community House Big Sibs, a mentorship project connecting Princeton undergraduates with under-served elementary schoolers. She now volunteers with the nonprofit Dear Future Colleague, helping underrepresented applicants apply to college and fellowship opportunities. She won the Shapiro Prize for Academic Excellence at Princeton and has studied abroad in China, Austria, and Spain.
