Nick Snyder

2025 Cohort

Torrance, California, United States

Hailing from Torrance, California, Nicholas (Nick) Snyder is a chemical engineering PhD student in the Tarpeh Lab at Stanford School of Engineering. He holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from UCLA as well as a master’s degree in energy science and technology from EPFL in Lausanne, Switzerland. Today, his interests lie in the electrochemical conversion between species along the nitrogen oxidation state spectrum to make a waste-free world a reality. His past research experiences that helped shape his present studies involved electrochemical phosphate recovery from wastewater (UCLA), glycerol electrooxidation for hydrogen production (EPFL), and redox-resolved cryo-EM imaging of the plant protein RuBisCO (Caltech). Prior to his time at Stanford, Nicholas received the EPFL Master Excellence Fellowship and attended the 2022 Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting in Chemistry, where he was the only undergraduate chosen by the Office of the President to represent the University of California.
