Owen Queen, from Watertown, Tennessee, is pursuing a PhD in computer science at Stanford School of Engineering. He graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, with a bachelor’s degree as a double major in computer science and mathematics. Owen aspires to enhance artificial intelligence for scientific discovery, accelerating critical research in drug discovery, personalized medicine, and climate science. Owen’s undergraduate research spanned AI and data science in genomics, materials science, and epidemiology, earning him a Barry Goldwater Scholarship. Most recently, he worked as a research associate at Harvard Medical School, building foundation models for therapeutic discovery and interpretable, generalizable models for graphs and time series data. His work has been published in numerous journals and conferences. Additionally, Owen volunteers with the nonprofit Remote Area Medical, which provides free, high-quality healthcare to underserved communities across the United States.
