Pragnya Ramjee

Pragnya Ramjee, from Bangalore, India, is pursuing a PhD in management science and engineering at Stanford School of Engineering. She graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati with a bachelor’s degree in design. Pragnya aims to examine how organizations shape the design and use of emerging technologies like AI, and how these choices influence the future of work. Before Stanford, she was a predoctoral human-computer interaction research fellow at Microsoft Research. There, as part of the technology and empowerment group, she worked on AI for low-cost healthcare. Her research has positively impacted thousands of rural community health workers and urban cataract patients in India, received media coverage, and was published at the ACM Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems; PACM on Interactive, Mobile, Wearable and Ubiquitous Technologies; and in the European Journal of Ophthalmology. Pragnya was awarded the Governor of Assam Gold Medal (2022) and the Institute Merit Scholarships (2019, 2020, 2021) from IIT Guwahati for academic excellence.
