Rahul Thapa

Rahul Thapa, from Euless, Texas (originally from Chitwan, Nepal), is pursuing a PhD in biomedical informatics at Stanford School of Medicine and a MA in computer science at Stanford School of Engineering. He graduated summa cum laude from Villanova University with a bachelor’s degree in computer science. Rahul aspires to collaborate with AI and health care experts to develop machine learning methods that are useful, reliable, and fair for the advancement of health care. His work in this space includes developing sepsis prediction models at Dascena, autism detection models at Forta, and exploring the use of large language models at Stanford Medicine. He is also part of the data science team at Stanford Healthcare, where he works on operationalizing models into clinical practice. At Villanova, Rahul worked as a research assistant, tutor, and an interfaith leader. Before coming to the United States, Rahul worked at an NGO in Nepal, assisting with campaigns to help flood victims and support a community school.
