Robert Lupoiu

Robert Lupoiu, from Windsor, Canada, is pursuing a PhD in electrical engineering at Stanford School of Engineering. He graduated from the University of British Columbia with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. Robert aspires to contribute to elevating the human condition by pushing the boundaries of light-matter interaction physics using advanced computational techniques. He has designed novel atomic silicon quantum dot circuits using a computer-aided design tool he helped develop at UBC’s Walus Lab and he built machine learning accelerators for photonic structure design algorithms at Stanford’s Fan Lab. During his undergraduate studies, Robert was a teaching assistant to over 500 students across three courses at UBC. He is a recipient of eleven awards from UBC, including the Patricia M. Mohr Award in Engineering and three Trek Excellence Scholarships.
