Rowan Ings

Rowan Ings, from London, England, is pursuing a master’s degree in documentary film and video at Stanford School of Humanities and Sciences. She graduated with an MA first class honors in history and Russian, with distinction in spoken Russian, from the University of Glasgow in 2016.  She has since trained with the Grierson DocLab and spent the past four years working in the British documentary industry, most recently as a producer at BBC Current Affairs. Rowan directed her first short film in 2019, with support from the British Film Institute, the film premiered at Edinburgh International Film Festival and was screened and awarded at festivals internationally. She is currently in production with the Scottish Documentary Institute on her second short documentary. She plans to use her time at Stanford to develop her practice and make a portfolio of films exploring labour, land and memory.
