Ryan Wang
Palo Alto, California, United States
Ryan Wang, from Palo Alto, California, is pursuing a PhD in bioengineering at Stanford’s Schools of Engineering and Medicine. He graduated from Rice University with a triple major in neuroscience, computer science, and cognitive science. Ryan aspires to improve scientific understanding of cognition and clinical approaches to neurological disease through research in neuroengineering. At Rice’s Neuroengineering Initiative, he developed technologies for the noninvasive treatment, study, and diagnosis of brain disease. At the University of Washington’s Center for Neurotechnology, Ryan designed neural decoders for brain-computer interfaces. Outside of neuroengineering, he studied sleep outcomes and vaccination patterns at Stanford’s Center for Asian Health Research and Education. Ryan’s teaching and outreach include co-founding Neurotech@Rice, which connects its 200-plus student members to industry, academic, and nonprofit opportunities. Ryan is a recipient of the Goldwater Scholarship, Sigma Xi Grant in Aid of Research, and the National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship.
