Saehui Hwang

Saehui Hwang, from Seoul, South Korea, is pursuing a PhD in mechanical engineering at Stanford School of Engineering. She graduated from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. Saehui is interested in drawing inspiration from biological systems to create tools and devices that enhance our understanding of  the natural world. She has conducted exoplanet research at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) and has helped create soft robotic systems at Seoul National University. During her involvement at the Caltech Y as a student leader, she has enjoyed leading civic engagement opportunities for the Caltech community, by writing for the science policy newsletter and organizing the local government seminar with the former mayor of Pasadena.
