Sarah Baran

Sarah Baran, from Independence, Ohio, is pursuing a master’s degree in international policy at Stanford School of Humanities and Sciences. She graduated from Georgetown University with a bachelor’s degree in government and a minor in education, inquiry, and justice. After spending five years working in international development and humanitarian crises, Sarah is dedicated to applying her field experience to policy creation in order to promote resilience in conflict areas. She previously led a team of over 200 people to provide emergency services in Rohingya refugee camps in Bangladesh, and directed a $50 million consortium to respond to the threat of famine in Somalia. Sarah began her career implementing randomized control trials in Kenya and working alongside East African governments to translate the results into development policy. She also opened Georgetown’s East African office, expanding operations to Tanzania, Uganda, and Rwanda.
