Sarina Adeline McCabe, from South Bend, Indiana, is pursuing a PhD in modern thought and literature with a focus in medical humanities at Stanford School of Humanities and Sciences. She graduated from Emory University with a bachelor's degree in creative writing in 2022. Sarina aspires to study and help develop models of trauma informed care to reduce iatrogenic risk in the U.S. healthcare system. She is invested in understanding the processes of both desensitization and empathy-building as occupational strategies among clinicians. Sarina is a trained crisis counselor as well as the senior publisher of Ember Publishing House, an indie literary press. She also sits on the board of ContainArt Community, a nonprofit focused on sustainable housing. Sarina is a Robert W. Woodruff Scholar Alumni, a former Gates Scholar, and a member of the Questbridge community.
