Savannah Cofer, from Columbus, Ohio, is pursuing a PhD in mechanical engineering at Stanford School of Engineering. She graduated from Rice University with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a minor in computational and applied mathematics. Savannah aspires to work on the implementation of novel materials and robotic automation for application-oriented devices. At the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, she developed multi-limbed robotic mobility systems and contamination control algorithms for the Mars 2020 Rover. At Rice, she covered projects in the 3D printing of graphene, carbon nanotube alignment, and piezoresistive graphene sensing for robotic applications, and at the University of Tokyo she patterned nanotubes for solar cells. Savannah received the Goldwater Scholarship, Google Scholarship, and AIAA Space Technology Scholarship.
