Sharon Lee

Sharon Lee, from Penang, Malaysia, is pursuing a PhD in computer science at Stanford School of Engineering. She earned her bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and computer science from UC Berkeley, followed by a master’s degree in computer science at Stanford. Sharon aspires to advance the field of computer vision, particularly in understanding how humans cognitively perceive and interpret abstract visual concepts. At Stanford, she was a researcher at the Stanford Vision and Learning Lab working on brain-robot interfaces, robotics, and generative models for images. In Malaysia, she founded an organization providing accessible education to orphans. Since moving to the United States, she has worked on developing physical science visualization tools for low-income schools at the Concord Consortium and has advocated for college student resources with senators at the Capitol. She has been awarded the Cal Alumni Leadership Award and was named a Siebel Scholar.
