Simba Jonga

Tasimba Jonga, originally from Southern Africa, is pursuing a master’s degree in management science and engineering at Stanford School of Engineering. He graduated from the University of Tennessee (UT) with a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, and economics. He has passions at the intersection of economic equity, technology, and entrepreneurship. He aspires to empower under-resourced, high-impact entrepreneurs in emerging markets. He co-developed a platform that serves minority-entrepreneurs, receiving 1st place in Microsoft's internal venture competition, and also delivered compliance automation across Microsoft's $168 billion revenue operations. He co-founded Rease, a platform for the college student-renter market, and pioneered UT’s 1st student-led venture accelerator that serves student entrepreneurs through funding, resources, and mentorship. Additionally, he has served as a volunteer for the Youth Against AIDS and UN since he was 12. Tasimba is a recipient of the Torchbearer Award (the highest UT honor), McKinsey Achievement Award, and Executive Leadership Council Award.
