Sophie Fernandez, from Memphis, Tennessee, will pursue a master’s degree in Russian, East European, and Eurasian studies at Stanford School of Humanities and Sciences after earning a bachelor’s degree in Russian Language with a minor in terrorism studies from the United States Military Academy at West Point. She studied abroad at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in Kazakhstan, where she completed advanced Russian language and regional security coursework. Sophie was the first female cadet from West Point to attend the Sachkhere Mountain Warfare School in the Republic of Georgia, where she completed high-altitude combat training. Upon graduating from West Point, she will serve as a military intelligence officer for the United States Army. She aspires to serve in the military with a focus on Eurasian regional security, leveraging her Russian language expertise and regional knowledge to strengthen strategic partnerships and address security challenges.
